100 Jahre - eine ganz schön lange Zeit, wenn auch nicht immer eine schöne lange. Wer so alt wird, hat einiges erlebt - als Jahrhundertmensch. Der Fotograf Karsten Thormaehlen aus Bad Kreuznach hat in Berlin und Umgebung Hundertjährige fotografiert. Diese Menschen und ihre Geschichten zeigt eine Ausstellung, die seit heute im Mainzer Rathaus zu sehen ist. Event: Karsten Thormaehlen fotografierte auf der Ambiente 2010 in Frankfurt den neu gestalteten Messestand der Zwiesel Kristallglas AG mit den drei Marken, Schott-Zwiesel, Zwiesel 1872 und Jenaer Glas. In diesem Jahr verpflichtete das Unternehmen die Starköche Tim Raue (Ma, Berlin) und Martin Baudrexel (Rubico, München) für ihre Live-Kochshows, sowie den Münchner Barkeeper Charles Schumann, der seine eigene und erste Glas-Kollektion vorstellte.
Ambiente 2010
Während der diesjährigen Internationalen Automobil Ausstellung IAA 2009 in Frankfurt fotografiert Karsten Thormaehlen mit einem 5-köpfigen Team während der gesamten Messezeit BMW-begeisterte Kunden in “freudiger Ekstase”. Mitten in der erst kürzlich eröffneten Halle 11 auf dem Frankfurter Messegelände können sich die fotografierten Besucher in einem professionell ausgestatteten Fotostudio die Bilder direkt als Postkarte ausdrucken und noch am Stand verschicken. For the photographs of this book Mario has cultivated one principle in his work in particular. He opened up the borders between fashion, beauty and nude photography and allowed his models to give the images their own interpretation. It is very important to him that the woman in his pictures can present themselves in the way they feel. Mario deliberately withdraws so as not to dominate the collaboration between model and photographer. The result are intensive, mysterious pictures with an oscillating mixture of style, eroticism and personal expression - pictures Mario Schmolka himself call “intimate portraits”. (Christian Satek)
